How long do I need at the Vatican?
Plan 3 hours for the Museums and Sistine Chapel, plus 1 hour for St. Peter's and another for the Dome.
Can I go from the Sistine Chapel straight to St. Peter's?
Only on many guided tours via the shortcut door, which is not guaranteed. Otherwise you exit and walk ~10 minutes.
Is the Vatican kid-friendly?
Yes, but long. Choose a family or private tour with storytelling and strollers are allowed.
Do I need to book in advance?
Strongly recommended — weeks ahead in spring, summer and holidays.
Can I see the Pope?
Wednesday General Audiences (free tickets) and Sunday Angelus at noon, when he is in Rome.
